Botox

If you’re looking for a way to refresh your face and erase the evidence of aging and stress, Botox may be the solution for you. Different from facial fillers, Botox relaxes tense muscles that cause wrinkles and defined expression lines. When done by a board-certified dermatologist, Botox safely and effectively diminishes wrinkles and lines without leaving you “frozen-faced.”

Patients typically seek Botox to eliminate the appearance of forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, neckbands, lines around the corners of the mouth, and under-eye wrinkles.

How Does It Work?

Botulinum Toxin A, the scientific name for Botox, provides a buffer to neurotransmitters within the injected muscles, lessening the signal to contract. This releases wrinkles and folds around the injection sites. The full effects of Botox can take 2-14 days to fully develop and can last up to 6 months.
Patients may resume all normal activities immediately after treatment. Common side effects, as with all injectable products, include swelling, bruising, bleeding, and itching at the injection site. Most side effects resolve themselves naturally within 24 hours.

Dermal Fillers

As we age, our skin loses its youthful fullness. Fillers help to restore lost fullness to the face, lips, and hands. Fillers are popular for several reasons. Patients like
the immediate results many types of fillers deliver and the fact that they can return to everyday activities immediately after getting most fillers.

Botox

● Botox is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment, with more than 6 million Botox treatments administered each year.● Botox is a neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic.● Botulinum toxin is used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by paralyzing the underlying muscles. People also use Botox to treat excessive sweating, migraines, muscular disorders, and some bladder and bowel disorders.● Typically, treatments can last 3-6 months, depending on the patient's metabolism.● We offer Botox and Xeomin.

Dermal Fillers

With a number of fillers now available, we can diminish signs of aging that appear on the face, lips, and hands. Fillers can effectively:
● Restore fullness to cheeks, hollow areas under the eyes, and deep creases.● Diminish scars.● Erase fine lines.● Plump lips. ● Lift the brow or a down-turned mouth.● Rejuvenate hands.

Skin Rejuvenation

If aging, acne, or too much time in the sun has left your face with blotches, scars, wrinkles, or lines, laser skin resurfacing may help your skin look younger and healthier.
Laser skin resurfacing removes skin layer by layer with precision. The new skin cells that form during healing give the skin a tighter, younger-looking surface. The procedure can be done alone or with other cosmetic surgeries on the face.

Laser Therapy

Wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, pigment, and scars on your body can have you feeling less confident. Fractional laser skin resurfacing is a safe, easy, and effective way to remove and greatly reduce the appearance of these types of unwanted blemishes on the body.

Lasers deliver light to the skin, causing the cells to release proteins that stimulate new collagen and generate elastin. The laser tricks the skin into thinking it is injured, which evokes the response of fresh skin growth, much like when you get a small papercut. The new healthy tissue is formed over the wrinkles and scars, among others, leaving you looking and feeling your best.
Areas treated typically include the face, neck, breasts, hips, buttocks, thighs, and scars anywhere on the body.
The procedure is performed in our office, allowing you to return to all normal activities within the day. The procedure takes under 15 minutes for the face and under 30 minutes for other areas of the body, such as the hips and chest.

Our treatment will be personally tailored to your skin type and desired goals. With great results and a quick recovery time, laser skin resurfacing ensures you can get back to your normal activities immediately.

PRP Microneedling Facials

As we age, it can become difficult for our skin to maintain its youthful build. In addition to at-home skincare, there are also several treatments available to help you achieve a younger and more supple appearance.
PRP Microneedling Facials are one of these treatments that stimulate the body's ability to restore and rejuvenate your skin's appearance.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a therapy that utilizes the patient’s own blood to rejuvenate collagen. A small amount of blood is drawn and separated into plasma, platelets, and red blood cells. The platelets and plasma are then injected into the desired area, providing a concentrated dose of the patient's own natural growth factors in order to promote lasting tissue repair and revitalization.

PRP Microneedling Facial FAQ

  • What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy. It is a minimally invasive skin procedure that works to reduce and eliminate signs of aging, improve complexion, and give patients a more supple and youthful appearance by using the body’s natural healing process.

  • What Are Its Benefits?

Microneedling seeks to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. It can be used almost anywhere on the body such as face, neck, chest, arms, and abdomen.
It can also be combined with other treatments to target other conditions such as hair loss, rosacea, and more.
Some benefits of microneedling include:● Improvement in skin tone and texture.● Smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.● Reducing pore size, pigmentation, stretch marks, and acne scars.

  • How Does It Work?

Microneedling uses a pen-like device with microneedles to glide across the skin’s surface, creating tiny punctures. As mentioned above, it is a minimally invasive procedure as the punctures are controlled and placed at a specific depth determined by the patient’s desired results. These tiny punctures, invisible to the naked eye, trigger the body’s natural healing process restoring the skin’s appearance as new collagen and elastin are produced.

  • What Can I Expect During Treatment?

Before the procedure, your face will be cleansed with a cleanser, and then a topical anesthetic will be applied 30 minutes before treatment. A serum may be applied to the targeted area to allow the device to glide across your skin gently. During treatment, you may feel a slight tingly vibration but should feel no significant discomfort or pain.
Slight bleeding may occur as the healing process is triggered. The length of the appointment depends on the size of the area being treated, but appointments generally last an hour. You may experience swelling and redness following treatment.

  • When Can I Expect To See Results?

As microneedling stimulates self-repair and renewal, the skin becomes firmer and regains elasticity. The effects of receiving treatment include improved texture, appearance, tone, and firmness of the skin as well as a reduction in any blemishes, scars, or pigmentation.
Patients will notice results after a single treatment; however, depending on the desired result, 3-6 sessions may be necessary with 4-6 weeks between each session. For greater results or a longer-lasting effect, a series of follow-up treatments or annual touch-ups may be needed.
Some common side effects include slight bleeding during treatment, redness and swelling, pigmentation loss or increase, and the possibility of infection.

  • Is There Any Aftercare I Should Consider?

Swelling and redness may last a few days following treatment but should subside. Tiny scabs will appear as your skin heals; these scabs should be left alone. Do not pick at, touch, remove, or exfoliate the scabs.
Avoid hot showers, strenuous activities, massages, working out, or sun exposure for the first 48 hours. Do not apply makeup to your skin for the first 12 hours following treatment. If possible, avoid shaving the treated area for two days while your skin heals.
Like any skin treatment, for effective results, treatment may require some extra attention on your part. It is encouraged that following microneedling, patients care for their skin with gentle moisturizers and avoid any heavy or irritating ingredients, makeup, or skincare products.

Microneedling is a safe procedure for all skin types and tones. If you are interested in learning more about microneedling and whether it is right for you, contact Del Mar Integrative Medicine & Med Spa office.
